Sometimes I am asked to piece fabric together in order to create a large enough backing for a quilt top.  That's not too hard or time consuming "UNLESS" the fabric has a pattern that you want to match when seamed together.  That can be fairly time consuming to do.  I am not going to try to explain the entire process because I found a website that already does a pretty good job of that.  I will put a link to that website below.  The main thing I want to point out (and so does the website), is that in order to pattern match a pieced backing fabric you will most definitely need extra fabric.  Possibly a lot of extra fabric.  So, if you want me to piece together a backing and you want the pattern to match I would suggest we talk about how much fabric you should send with your quilt.  Also, realize that depending on the size of the quilt I do charge an hourly fee of $30.00 per hour for this service.  Here is the link to the article on how to pattern match backing fabric:
